EC and Topre owners have spent years short on choices. URSA welcomes them into the wider hobby with doubleshot no one else attempts, powered by people who care.
How we got here
It started with one keyboard and one frustration. In 2019, Simon (kartsims) went looking for keycaps for his UHK and came up empty. Worse, there was no keycap customization site anywhere to make them himself. That seemed wrong, so he started building one.
A deep dive into the industry followed, then a call to a lifelong friend. Jeremy (Maky), who had spent years operating in China producing and exporting, joined to make it real. In 2020, the first interest check went out under the FK name.
MBK, our first project, was a 2020 group buy that taught us the vendor side the hard way. Some of those early partners didn't survive; others are still with us today. We were figuring it out in the open, and the community figured it out with us.
Then came URSA: our first self-run preorder, and a scary leap into EC and Topre. Nobody was making doubleshot keycaps for those boards, so we did.
Years on, the shape of the work hasn't changed. Every designer partnership starts as a real human relationship, not a contract. Every community meetup reminds us how good this hobby is in person, so if you've never been to one, go at least once. We're still a small team living a slightly unreal dream: making keycaps for the keyboards we love, alongside the people who love them too.
